FTO and CTO quick-start guide

Use DORWorks to document training, record assessments, track objectives, and submit work through your agency’s approval process. Your program’s model and settings determine the fields and actions available.

Prepare your account

Sign in with your agency-provided account. Open your name menu, select My Profile, and create your saved signature before submitting records that require it.

Review the program’s category definitions, rating scale, and reference materials under Resources. Use your own program’s standards when documenting performance.

Select the correct trainee

  1. Open Dashboard.
  2. Choose the trainee in the Active Trainee selection box.
  3. Allow the dashboard to refresh.
  4. Confirm the trainee’s name and program before entering information.

DORWorks remembers the trainee from your previous visit, so check this selection at the start of each session and whenever you switch trainees.

Document the training day

Follow your program’s process for starting or opening the daily record. For an FTO-started DOR, select New DOR, review the header information, and create the record.

In a PTO program configured for trainee-started Journals, review the trainee’s contribution and Ready for FTO handoff before completing your portion. Avoid starting a duplicate daily record.

Complete the assessment and narrative areas your program uses. Add events, participation, training time, and supporting attachments where applicable. Nextgen programs may also use a dedicated Tasks area.

Use the controls and save indicators for each section. Event entries have a Save action; do not assume every field saves in the same way as a rating selection.

Update objectives and checklists

Record training steps and checklist actions accurately as they occur. Follow the configured completion sequence and leave required trainee or supervisor sign-offs for the responsible person.

Review and submit

Check the full daily record before signing and submitting it. Complete any required comments, confirm the correct trainee and program, and review the workflow status after submission.

If a record is returned, read the reviewer’s note, make the requested changes when editing is available, and resubmit through the displayed workflow.

Review progress and get help

Use available reports, text search, and analytics to review training history. Open the supporting record to understand the details behind a result.

Ask your program administrator about access, configuration, or agency procedures. Use the support icon for application assistance.
