Configure event fields and narrative prompts

Event Options lets administrators choose the information trainers document for each event. Configure the fields and prompts to match your program’s training model and agency procedures.

Open Event Options

  1. Open Admin → Training Programs.
  2. Select the intended program’s name or Settings.
  3. Open Event Options.

Choose event information

Review the available settings for training time, event natures, participation, and reference labels. Enable the fields your program needs and configure any required-field options shown.

If natures are enabled, decide whether FTOs may add new nature labels while entering an event. Manage the available nature and participation choices in their respective program settings.

Configure per-event assessments

Enable event-level ratings if your program assesses individual events. Review the option to require an assessment on each event entry.

Event assessments are configurable and are separate from the daily assessment area. Choose the method required by your program rather than assuming every training model assesses each event.

Add custom selection fields

Event Options provides two optional custom selection fields. For each field you use, enable it, choose a clear label, and configure the available options in its option list.

For example, a communications program might use a field to record the trainee’s position. Use choices that staff can apply consistently.

Configure narrative areas

Review whether the main event narrative is shown. Where needed, enable the second or third narrative area and label each prompt clearly.

Additional prompts can ask trainers to document a particular aspect of the event. Choose wording that encourages factual, useful responses and reflects your agency’s procedures.

Use compact editor-height settings where offered if several narrative areas make the form lengthy. A compact editor reduces the space displayed on screen.

Add instructions

Use the instructions area to place guidance above the main narrative. Explain what trainers should address each time they document an event.

Save and test

  1. Save the event options.
  2. Open a daily record for a practice trainee.
  3. Start or edit a practice event.
  4. Check the fields, option lists, narrative labels, and instructions.
  5. Test any required assessments or fields, then save the practice event and review the result.

Before changing fields already used in active training, review the affected records and reports. Contact support if the effect of a change is unclear.
