Configure event natures and participation
Event natures identify the types of calls or activity a trainee encounters. Participation levels describe the trainee’s involvement, such as primary, backup, or observer. Administrators can configure these choices to match the program.
Manage event natures
- Open Admin → Training Programs.
- Select the intended program’s name or Settings.
- Open Natures.
- Add or edit the call-type labels your agency uses.
- Save the changes and review the list.
Deactivate options you no longer want offered, using the available controls. Review existing records before changing the meaning of a nature already in use.
Import natures
For a plain list, enter or paste one nature per line in the bulk import area. Alternatively, download the supplied template, preserve its header, add the nature labels below it, and use the import control.
Review the imported list before using it for active training.
Manage participation levels
- Open the program’s Participation tab.
- Add a level or edit an existing one.
- Enter the label and select its color.
- Save and repeat for the remaining levels.
Choose labels that accurately describe your agency’s training process. Participation choices are configurable and may differ between programs.
Enable the fields on events
- Open Event Options.
- Review the option to show the event nature field.
- Decide whether FTOs may add new natures while entering an event.
- Enable participation tracking if your program uses it.
- Choose whether participation is required on each event and adjust its label where offered.
- Save the options.
When permitted, an FTO can add a new nature while entering an event by typing the label and using the field’s add action. In the Academy demonstration, pressing Tab adds the new label.
Review the result
Open an event form for a practice trainee and check the nature and participation fields. Save a practice event, then review the relevant reports and links to the underlying record.
Hiding nature tracking can also hide its associated report. Review the effect on staff access before disabling a feature used by your program.
An expected choice is missing
Check the selected program, its option lists, any active settings, and the Event Options field settings. Ask your program administrator if the available choices do not match agency requirements.
