Configure your program’s rating scale

Your program’s rating or assessment scale defines the performance levels staff select when documenting training. Administrators can configure labels, descriptions, point values, colors, and comment requirements to match the agency’s training model.

Open the rating scale settings

  1. Open Admin → Training Programs.
  2. Select the intended program’s name or Settings.
  3. Open Rating Scale, or the equivalent assessment-scale tab.

Review the existing levels before making changes. A program imported from a model template may already have a scale configured.

Add or edit a level

  1. Choose the option to add a level or edit an existing one.
  2. Enter its point value and the label staff should see.
  3. Provide a description explaining what the level means.
  4. Choose its display color.
  5. Set whether selecting that level requires a comment.
  6. Save the changes.

Point values are used in analytics. Configure them consistently with your agency’s assessment method, and review the resulting reports before rollout.

Choose clear display labels

A program may use textual labels, numbers, or labels combining numbers and text. Use the available display setting to match your program’s requirements.

For example, a descriptive label alongside a number can help staff distinguish levels without memorizing the scale. Use the definitions required by your own agency rather than copying another program’s scale.

Set comment requirements

If your agency requires an explanation for a particular rating, enable its comment-required option. Review which levels need supporting comments and explain those expectations to staff.

Check the user view

  1. Open Resources and review the program’s rating or assessment scale.
  2. Open an editable daily record for a practice trainee.
  3. Check the available ratings, labels, and colors.
  4. Test a rating that requires a comment and review the resulting validation.

Change a scale already used in training

Before changing existing values or definitions, review the affected training records and reports. Contact support if you need guidance on how a proposed change affects historical information or analytical comparisons.
