Configure DOR locations and shifts
Locations and shifts provide the choices staff use when starting daily training records. Administrators can configure them to match a patrol, communications, corrections, or other training program.
Choose the location label
- Open Admin → Training Programs.
- Select the intended program’s name or Settings.
- In the main settings, find the location-label setting.
- Enter the label your program uses, such as Beat, Position, District, or Post.
- Save the settings.
Use a label that helps staff identify the trainee’s work location or assignment for that day.
Add locations
- Open the program’s Locations tab or equivalent location settings.
- Choose the option to add a location.
- Enter its name and any optional internal code or description.
- Set a display order if you want an order other than the default alphabetical listing.
- Save and repeat for the remaining locations.
Add shifts
- Open the program’s Shifts tab.
- Add a shift and enter its name.
- Complete any optional internal code, display order, and start and end times.
- If you want shift selection to suggest hours worked, enable the pre-fill-hours option.
- Save and repeat for the remaining shifts.
Understand suggested hours
With shift times and the pre-fill option configured, selecting a shift can populate hours worked on a New DOR. Staff can adjust those hours to reflect the actual day.
For example, an eight-hour shift may need to be adjusted for a shorter training day or additional time worked. Review overnight shifts and other special schedules in your program before relying on the suggested value.
Check the staff view
Start a New DOR for a practice trainee. Confirm the location label, available choices, shift order, and suggested hours. Adjust the setup if those choices do not match the agency’s daily documentation needs.
A choice is missing or hours are unexpected
Check that you configured the correct training program. Review the location or shift settings and any active status shown. For suggested hours, check the shift’s times and pre-fill option, then review the resulting value on a practice DOR.
