Create objectives and add reference materials

Objectives define the tasks, policies, procedures, or topics your program teaches and records. Administrators can organize them into categories, configure completion steps, and attach reference materials.

Open objective settings

  1. Open Admin → Training Programs.
  2. Select the intended program’s name or Settings.
  3. Open Objectives.

Your agency may use a different label for objectives, such as tasks or sign-off items.

Create objective categories

Use Add Category to create the groups that will organize your objectives. Give each category a recognizable name, such as "Administrative orientation" or "Emergency vehicle operations," and save it.

Add an objective

  1. Select Add Objective and choose the appropriate category.
  2. Enter the objective title and any instructions.
  3. Set its display order and any phase association your program uses.
  4. Add an external reference link if needed.
  5. Choose the allowed completion steps and designate the final completion option.
  6. Set the required status and supervisor approval requirement as appropriate.
  7. Save the objective.

Choose completion labels that describe your training process. An Explained → Observed → Demonstrated → Completed sequence is one example; your program can use other labels and requirements.

Attach reference documents

  1. Save the objective first.
  2. Edit the saved objective.
  3. Use its reference attachment area to add the supporting documents.
  4. Complete the upload and any displayed save action.
  5. Open the objective from the trainee’s objectives view to check the references.

An external link can point to material maintained in another system, such as an agency policy resource. Make sure the intended users have access to that external material.

Import multiple objective titles

Use the bulk import area to enter or paste one objective title per line. Review the available preset options before importing. Afterward, edit individual objectives to add their instructions, references, and any item-specific requirements.

Review and maintain objectives

Use the objective-list filter to locate items, then edit or deactivate them using the available controls. Review the program’s progressive-completion settings and test the sign-off process with a practice trainee before rollout.

For changes to objectives already used in training, review the existing records and ask support for help if the effect of a change is unclear.
