Complete and acknowledge training objectives

Objectives document training on specific tasks, policies, procedures, or topics. Your agency may use a different name for objectives and chooses the completion steps and approvals required.

Find an objective

  1. Staff: confirm the correct active trainee on Dashboard.
  2. Open Objectives, or your program’s equivalent menu.
  3. Select All Objectives, or a phase-specific view when available.
  4. Expand the relevant section. Use the search or phase filter where offered to narrow the list.

Trainees use their own objectives view. Before recording completion, read the objective’s instructions and review any linked references or attached documents.

Record training as a staff member

  1. Locate the objective you worked on.
  2. Find the completion column matching the training actually performed.
  3. Select the available checkbox for that step.
  4. Confirm that the recorded check-off appears on the objective.
  5. Add a comment where appropriate, and use the available save controls or confirm the page’s save status.

A program might use steps such as Explained, Observed, Demonstrated, and a final completion step. Follow the labels and instructions configured for your program.

Why a later step may be unavailable

Some programs require progressive completion. In those programs, a later checkbox becomes available after the preceding step is recorded. Other programs allow steps to be recorded out of sequence or permit the final completion step at any time.

Ask your administrator to confirm the expected sequence if a step is unavailable.

Acknowledge an objective as a trainee

  1. Create your saved signature under My Profile if you have not already done so.
  2. Open your objectives and find an item requiring your sign-off.
  3. Review the objective, training check-offs, references, and comments.
  4. Select Acknowledge this objective when available.

The item may still require supervisor approval after your acknowledgment. Review its status to see whether another action is outstanding.

Approve an objective as a supervisor

When supervisor approval is required, an authorized supervisor reviews the objective and selects its Approve action. The notification bell may provide a shortcut to objectives awaiting approval.

Objective approval is handled on the objective itself, separately from the daily-record or form approval chain.

Correct an error or find a missing objective

If a check-off is incorrect and you cannot remove it, ask your supervisor or administrator to review it. Later acknowledgments or approvals may need to be addressed before an earlier mark can be corrected.

If an objective is missing, check the selected trainee, program, phase filter, search terms, and collapsed sections.

Download the objective matrix

Use Download PDF on the objectives page when available. Confirm the trainee and program before saving or sharing the export.
