Format narrative text
DORWorks provides rich text formatting in supported narrative fields. Use it to organize information and make important details easier to read.
Open the editor
- Open a record you are authorized to edit.
- Click inside the narrative field.
- Use the formatting controls available in that editor.
Formatting controls may appear when you select text or open the editor’s additional options.
Emphasize text
- Select the word or phrase you want to format.
- Choose Bold, Italic, or a highlighting option where available.
- Review the result to make sure the emphasis is clear and useful.
Create a list
Use a numbered list for a sequence of actions and a bulleted list for related points. Choose the appropriate list option from the editor’s controls. Use indentation where available to show supporting details.
For example, a numbered list can document the order of training activities, while a bulleted list can identify topics reviewed during a discussion.
Review and save your narrative
Read the narrative after formatting it. Confirm that lists, paragraph breaks, and emphasis make the information easier to follow, and that the text accurately describes what happened.
Use the page’s save controls or confirm its save status before leaving. Formatting text does not submit, acknowledge, or approve the record.
The narrative cannot be edited
Your role or the record’s workflow status may prevent editing. Ask your supervisor or administrator to confirm whether the record needs to be returned or reopened through your agency’s correction process.
